Checking My Order Picking Status… From my iPhone!
Mobile computing has always been a part of BarControl’s development strategy. From the first portable computers and barcode scanning equipment over 20 years ago, to the Blackberries and iPhones of today… the development commitment continues.
While the most common mobile computing solution we have in the field are more industrial, thin client Windows Mobile based devices, such as the Motorola MC9000… more and more people are demanding access to their systems and data via common devices – like cell phones and PDA’s
BarControl has two offerings in development to address this need.
First is simply a refinement and upgrade of a product already available – a lite, smaller, “mobile” version of the current iBEM web application. Practically any portable device with a true web interface should be able to access the iBEM mobile site and do most common functions.
Second, BarControl has made a commitment to supporting the iPhone. New for 2010 will be an iPhone app that will allow access to your iBEM system. So, if you want to see what orders shipped for the day while stuck in an airport… or need to quickly approve a purchase order while traveling… just pull out your iPhone !!
