After the tragedy of 9/11, The New York Office of the Chief Medical Examiner needed a reliable system to accurately track inventory items. The office chose BarControl Systems and Services to handle their inventory needs.
The New York Office Chief Medical Examiner implemented a web based order entry screen to expedite getting needed medical, surgical, laboratory, and office supplies to personnel. The web based order entry screen allows users to request needed supplies by simply filling out a form online.
For non-stock items, an online requisition form is completed and sent electronically to a department head for approval. Upon approval, the requisition is forwarded within the system to the procurement department so a RFQ can be created and sent out to receive quotes. When the quotes are returned, they can be entered into the system and the winning quote can then be used to create a Purchase Order.
The procurement department has the ability to split apart and/or combine requisitions. This facilitates in receiving bulk discounts on items, reduced shipping from vendors, and reducing overall costs of materials.
The system utilizes Radio Frequency (RF) technology. This feature allows users to track inventory in real time. Pick lists are used for order fulfillment and items are scanned using a RF scan gun. Once the items are scanned the items are issued from inventory assuring an always-accurate inventory.
The iBEM system from BarControl Systems and Services offers The New York Office of the Chief Medical Examiner a web based inventory system capable of online functions such as; order entry, requisitions and inventory tracking.
